Revamping America Score's internal website for coaches

I joined Develop for Good during their Summer 2025 project cycle as a UI/UX Designer working with America SCORES on their internal website for coach training resources and curriculum materials.

Our goal was to archive all poems and student profiles collected over 6 years.
We started by conducting user research through interviews with 4 coaches. Many of them reported having trouble finding resources.

I discovered site-wide problems that hindered navigation and usability.
To improve the usability of the site, I conducted a heuristic evaluation and created a sitemap to explore and find the best strategy of archiving poems based on their needs and remove areas of friction.

From here, I iterated on wireframe designs, following industry standards and responsive design.
I worked extensively to find the best way to integrate the new pages into the existing system. The results:

I learned how important clear communication with the client is during this project. Since America SCORES is a nonprofit, they cared deeply about impact but didn't always speak the same "design language" as me. I realized that explaining the reason behind my designs and defending my design choices was just as important as the design itself.
